This Saturday morning, the same day as our high school state championship meet, another large championship meet was held, The NCAA Southeast Regional Championship. Playing host to this meet was the University of Louisville at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky. This meet could not have had more perfect running weather as it was in the low 50s throughout the competition. For those who have not been to E.P Sawyer Park, it is a must see venue for XC runners being a very flat and fast course with beautiful scenery throughout.

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University cross country teams will compete against a vast and talented field at the Greater Louisville Classic this weekend. More than 100 teams are expected to compete in both the men's and women's races at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park beginning around 9:30 a.m Saturday morning.
Louisville, KY- The Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) will host 97 colleges and universities from 20 states in the 9th Annual Greater Louisville Classic (GLC), which once again will be the largest college meet contested in the south. The Classic, run Saturday October 2nd, will bring together some of the top college cross country programs in the nation, as over 2,000 athletes are expected to compete at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. The event will not only feature vast quantity, but the overall quality of the competing teams continues to improve with each year. The field includes 29 men's teams and 23 women's teams that are currently ranked in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Div- I Regional, NCAA Div. II National, NCAA Div. III National and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Cross Country Polls this season.

NEW ORLEANS – Following a win against a talented field at the Memphis Twilight Classic on Saturday night, the Eastern Kentucky men's cross country team jumped three spots to No. 6 in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region rankings. The women's team advanced two spots to No. 13 following a second place finish at the same meet.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University sophomore David Mutuse was named the Ohio Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. Mutuse won the 10,000 meters at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational on Saturday with an OVC-best time of 30:53.36.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University track and field team competed at the University of Tennessee Sea-Ray Relays and the University of the Cumberlands Invitational this weekend. The women’s shuttle hurdle relay team highlighted the weekend by winning at the Sea-Ray Relays with a time of 56.84.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University sophomore Lutisha Bowen has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week. Bowen ran an OVC-best 14.01 in the 100-meter hurdles this weekend at the North Carolina State Raleigh Relays, and she was also a member of the winning 4x200 meter relay team.
