BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- Eastern Kentucky University seniors Ole Hesselbjerg and Ann Eason have been named the Ohio Valley Conference Male and Female Track Athletes of the Week.
Hesselbjerg and Eason both competed last weekend at the Rod McCravy Memorial in Lexington, a loaded meet that featured 16 top-25 teams.
Hesselbjerg -- a steeplechase All-American from Denmark -- made his season debut at the meet, finishing seventh in the men's 5,000 meters with a 14:31.10. That time is the fastest in the OVC and currently the 24th fastest in the country.
It is the fifth time in his career Hesselbjerg has been named the OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week.
Eason placed seventh in the women's 3,000 meters with a time of 9:29.25. That time is tops in the OVC and ranks 16th in the country. The All-American from Lexington also owns the fastest mile time in the OVC.
It is also Eason's fifth career OVC Track Athlete of the Week honor.
The EKU track and field team will compete at the Thundering Herd Invitational this weekend in Huntington, West Virginia.
