NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– The Eastern Kentucky University women’s track and field team is currently in third place while the men’s team is in fourth place after day one of the OVC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Both teams are expected to make up ground on Saturday, as most of the finals of running events are held on Saturday.

Friday, however, did produce one individual conference champion from EKU, as junior Katherine Pagano won the women’s 5,000 meters with a time of 18:16.98. It was the first individual indoor championship for Pagano. She won the 10,000 meters at last year’s outdoor championships.

Other Colonels who scored points on Friday included junior Sylvia Bundotich (seventh place in the women’s 5,000 meters), sophomore Danielle Mason (eighth place in the women’s 5,000 meters), sophomores Chris Rice (second place in the men’s 5,000 meters) and David Mutuse (third place in the men’s 5,000 meters), freshman Jazzmin Jeter (third place in the women’s long jump) and sophomore Morgan Thacker (sixth place in the women’s long jump) and the women’s (third place) and men’s (second place) distance medley relay team.

The events tomorrow get underway at 10:00 a.m. and the awards ceremony is expected to take place at 3:45.
