RICHMOND, Ky.
– Three members of the Eastern Kentucky University track and field team competed at the Georgia Tech Invitational this weekend while two others competed at the University of Louisville Cardinal Twilight. Three Colonels – senior Christopher Rengifo, junior Lydia Kosgei and sophomore Lutisha Bowen – recorded personal bests at the meets.

Rengifo finished fourth with a personal-best time of 3:49.97 in the men’s 1,500 meters at the Cardinal Twilight. Bowen, meanwhile, got below 14 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles for the first time in her career, finishing fourth in that event with a time of 13.91 at the Cardinal Twilight.

Kosgei competed at Georgia Tech and finished 11th in the women’s 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:28.04.

Senior Joseph Maina and junior Kat Pagano also ran at Georgia Tech. Maina ran a season-best time of 14:12.49 in the men’s 5,000 meters while Pagano recorded a 17:15.50 in the women’s 5,000 meters.

The NCAA East Region Track and Field Championships will take place May 27-29 in Greensboro, N.C. Freshman Soufiane Bouchikhi (men’s 5,000 meters) is the only Colonel expected to qualify for the regionals.
