Colonels Win 15 Events at Centre Invitational

DANVILLE, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University track and field team won 15 events at the Centre Invitational on Saturday. The women’s team won the meet with 253.5 points while the men’s team finished second with 123 points.

On the women’s distance side, junior Sylvia Bundotich won the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:48.95 and the 800 meters with a time of 2:22.62, and senior Maria Doerger won the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:37.35.

On the women’s sprints side, freshman DanHeisha Harding won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.33, sophomore Lutisha Bowen won the 100 meters with a time of 12.83 and the 200 meters with a time of 25.67.

In women’s field events, freshman Shannon Hooper won the discus with a toss of 126-00, freshman Jazzmin Jeter won the long jump with a mark of 18-04.5 and sophomore Morgan Thacker won the triple jump with a leap of 35-04.5.

The women’s 4x100 meter relay team also won with a time of 49.48 and the 4x400 meter relay team won with a time of 3:59.57.

On the men’s distance side, sophomore David Mutuse won the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:03.65 and senior Christopher Rengifo won the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.60.

On the men’s sprints side, junior Steven Nicholson won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.38.

The men’s 4x400 meter relay team also won with a time of 3:26.57.

The EKU track and field team returns to action at the University of Tennessee Sea-Ray Relays from April 7-10 in Knoxville, Tenn.
