BRITTON EARNS OVC CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK HONORS
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University senior Una Britton has been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Female Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Britton won the women’s 5K at the Queen City Invitational in Mason, Ohio on Friday evening, defeating a field of 185 competitors by covering the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:25.22.
The native of Wicklow, Ireland led the EKU women’s team to a win over 20 teams at the meet, including the likes of Xavier, Dayton and Morehead State.
Britton was the individual OVC women’s cross country champion last fall, and she ran the second-fastest women’s 10,000 meters time in EKU history in the spring (36:04.18).
Britton, senior All-American Ann Eason and the rest of the EKU women are currently ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Southeast Region.
The Colonel men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the Bluegrass Invitational this Saturday in Lexington.
