BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University junior Ann Eason has been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Female Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
After missing the indoor season due to injury, Eason continued her strong return to the track this spring by winning the women’s 1,500 meters at the Cincinnati Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Saturday at Gettler Stadium.
The All-American defeated a field of 20 runners with an OVC-best time of 4:33.07. That time currently ranks 51st in the NCAA East Region.
Eason, the two-time OVC Female Cross Country Runner of the Year, has now been named OVC Track Athlete of the Week three times in her career.
Eason – along with fellow All-Americans Soufiane Bouchikhi and Wade Meddles – will run against some of the best competition in the country this weekend at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif. The rest of the EKU track and field team will compete at the Bellarmine Invitational in Louisville.
