RALEIGH, N.C.
– The Eastern Kentucky University women’s 4x200 meter relay team – composed of sophomores Diamond Benjamin and Lutisha Bowen and freshmen Bianca Forbes and Jazzmin Jeter – won at the North Carolina State Raleigh Relays on Saturday afternoon with a time of 1:38.65.

The 4x200 team defeated teams from schools such as Ohio State, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Rutgers and the host, North Carolina State.

Other notable performances at Saturday’s meet included junior Katherine Pagano placing third in the 5,000 meters with a personal best time of 17:15.31 and senior Christopher Rengifo finishing eighth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:55.78.

Benjamin and Bowen, meanwhile, qualified for the finals of the 100 meters and the 100-meter hurdles, respectively. Benjamin ran a 12.07 in the finals of the 100 meters while Bowen recorded a 14.20 in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles.

Bouchikhi Runs at Stanford Invitational


While the rest of the track and field team was competing in Raleigh this weekend, freshman Soufiane Bouchikhi travelled to California to run the 5,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational.

Facing numerous All-Americans and sponsored runners, Bouchikhi placed 16th in the fastest heat of the race with a time of 14:02.61. It is the second fastest 5,000 meters time in EKU history, behind Jacob Korir’s 13:29.12.

The EKU track and field team will continue its outdoor season at the University of Cincinnati Invitational and the Centre College Invitational this weekend.
