BRENTWOOD, Tenn.
– Eastern Kentucky University senior Christopher Rengifo earned OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his productive career on Tuesday. Rengifo ran the second fastest mile (4:16.26) and the third fastest 800 meters (1:54.01) in the conference on Saturday at the University of Kentucky Rod McCravy Invitational.

The Woodbridge, Ontario native was competing against a talented field of 13 teams, including two nationally-ranked men's programs in No. 1 Florida State and No. 19 Kentucky.

A two-time first team All-OVC cross country performer, a member of the winning distance medley relay team at the 2008 OVC Indoor Track and Field Championships and a member of the 4xMile relay team that set a new school record at the 2008 Penn Relays with a time of 16:39.47, Rengifo had never won an OVC weekly award until now.

The EKU track and field team continues its indoor season this weekend at the Middle Tennessee State Invitational.
