What to Know About Every KHSAA Class 1A Region Meet in 2022

BOYS

The top challengers:

1. Isaac Riggs. The Bethlehem sophomore on three occasions this season ran a sub-16:30 time. The last was, his PR, came in the Louisville XC Classic on Oct. 1 (16:25.30). That was the fifth fastest individual time in the state this season.

2. Jayden Marr. His average time in four meets this fall is 16:59.16 and the Green County sophomore earned a PR (16:51.71) his last time out.

3. Jack Ballard. He PR'd in his first meet of the fall (17:04.66 at the Tiger Run on Aug. 27) and has run sub-17:30 once in the four meets since. A 17:28.90 on Oct. 11 resulted in his first top-10 finish since this meet a year ago.

Fast facts: Garrett Scott, who finished third with a 17:15.88 last season, is seeded fourth (17:12.83). ... Riggs won last year's race with a time of 16:42.04.

GIRLS

The top challengers:

1. Riley Coffey. Her fastest time (20:11.94 at the Jesse Owens Classic on Oct. 1) netted career victory No. 1 for the Green County seventh-grader.

2. Peyton Reid. An eight-grader at Owensboro Catholic, Ross followed up her PR (20:30.07 on Sept. 26) with a similar performance on Oct. 8 (20:32.36).

3. Isabella Ross. The only high school student among the top four seed times ran her PR (20:30.45) last year in this race, finishing second. Her best time this season, 20:59.24, is the third best time in the region this year. 

Fast facts: Coffey's PR is the ninth fastest individual time this fall. She did not compete in last year's race. ... Anna Grace Blythe, a Metcalfe County junior who won last year's race (20:13.26), isn't on the entry list. ... Sophie Nordyke (North Hardin Christian School) has the second fastest time on the seed list (20:25.15) but she isn't KHSAA eligible.
