Movers and Shakers of Week 3

 

-          I thought the way the girl’s race went on Saturday at the Purple Strider Invitational was really telling of the difference in running styles.  From the gun, Alliah Fueller (Muhlenberg County) took off with Aleja Grant (Paducah Tilghman) following closely.  John Hardin’s Katie Lever who has run 19:08 this year just chilled through the first half mile letting Fueller and Grant open a lead on her.  By the mile mark, Lever had caught up with the duo and by the two mile she had left the field behind with a solid 15 second gap.  Fueller held on strong for second.  The Bowling Green fivesome of (Van Games, Ciara Scott, Lauren Wheeler, Brittney Hansen, and Sarah-Emily Woodward ran together as a group till somewhere past the two mile mark.  It is not a normal sight in a decent caliber cross country meet to see five runners from the same team running hard right beside each other that far into a race.  Reminded me of the cover of Tony Row...
