#5: We Got an Indoor Season That Showed Promise

2020 started out STRONG! We got a peek into what the outdoor season was going to hold. It meant that the Class of 2020 that were not aware that they were going to miss the outdoor season had a chance at one last run around the oval (a smaller oval, but an oval nonetheless). We saw Conner O'Shea continue his state championship form from cross country in the one mile (4:25) and two-mile (9:27). We enjoyed one last time with South Carolina commit and Frederick Douglass senior Christian Lewis with the top 200m time and a dual with now University of Kentucky jumper Marquise Kinley in the long jump (SEC, get ready for these two).

Sacred Heart Academy had the sprinters to complement the distance runners to make a run (get it?) at a state title. Seniors Iaunia Pointer and McKenzie Bell were tops in the 200m and 400m. Ciara O'Shea (like her brother) was dominating the distance scene (she has not stopped). The jumpers were jumping out of their shoes as Kendall Burgess and Jasmine Claunch left the indoor season with a clear advantage in the horizontal jumps.

The indoor season was the only glimpse we got of our track and field talent for 2020 and we were treated to some awesome performances. I take those as a win and choose to celebrate what we DID get!

Miss some of that action? We have it for you!
