#4: Class of 2021 Cross Country Got a Season

This one seems petty and like, "Well, duh we did, but it was weird", and you would not be wrong. The season looked nothing like we have ever seen before. We had waves of 40, then waves of 100. We had masks at all times unless athletes were running. We missed out on award ceremonies. Meets took twice as long (maybe even more) to ensure social distancing. Race distances were shortened to start the season. The practices were in pods with small groups of our team. All of this allowed us to get a season!

Our cross country community did an outstanding job of implementing and following the protocols that were in place. Did those protocols seem to change with the wind, YEP! But did we ever break down and quit, NO! From someone that saw a lot of cross country and conversed with many members of our community, you all did an incredible job making our sport something that we needed. And not to discount all athletes, but this was important for our seniors, 8th graders, and those other grades that transition to the next level of competition. So thank you for making that happen!
