Every year across the state of Kentucky the current season's newest crop of results, times, and performances are viewed and often celebrated by athletes, parents, and fans. But what about the athletes of the past? Jonathan Grooms, the Editor of KYtrackXC.com, has had a long-standing goal to publish online the results of the past for the world to see. As one can imagine, keeping up with the athletes of the present on KYtrackXC.com takes up the bulk of the time invested on the site. This is where the new Kentucky Track History Initiative steps in.

Since this schedule takes me through the state meet, this will be the last entry in this season blog. I've enjoyed sharing what we do, and I hope it's been informative. As I said at the beginning, this is intended only to represent one approach, and there are many valid ones. Hopefully, Jonathan can convince another coach to do this next year so that I can see the interesting things that others are doing. Thanks for reading.

Coming from Meade County, Tyler Breeds thought it was strange when he noticed how many coaches the North Hardin track teams had at their disposal. (via www.thenewsenterprise.com)
In cross country a team is scored based on the placing of their top five runners. Below you see the top two teams in each of the distance events using the 2013 times in a virtual XC race at that distance. A little different, you can see where you squad ranks by clicking on the event. If you want to see a sprint event or field event simply change the number at the end to the new event, 3200m to 100m.
Tonight at the Marshall County MS Invitational, the home school broke their school record in the Boys 4x800m Relay. I took this photo as their fourth runner crossed the line. Really cool shot of the him celebrating and even the crowd of kids at the finish line waiting in expectation. FYI, this is also the best MS 4x800m Relay time in the state. Congrats to the team! I will get their names later on tonight.
The Eastern Relays gets under way tonight at the University of Louisville. Annually this the top meet in Kentucky and it continues to grow more each year. Last year saw the huge Boys 3200m Run on Friday night with Jacob Thomson cracking 9 in the 3200 (first person on KY soil to do so) and a 39 runners going under the 10 minute mark. Tretez Kinnaird set a new pr in the 800 going under 1:50 for the first time. Danielle Pfeifer and Brannon Kidder from Ohio put up great displays in the 800 and 1600m. Katherine Receveur rolled in the 1600, Ronnie Baker 10.59/47 400 and that does not even cover the field events. That was all last year and this year could top that.
