Who to watch at Middle School State tomorrow
NKAC Championship scored as 1 race instead of Small School and Large School
With region right around the corner, this Saturday will be a good opportunity for teams to gain a little momentum and make some last minute preparations. There are several athletes that have a legitimate shot to make it to the State Championships and this meet will give them a chance to see how they stack up against some of Southern Kentucky’s best runners. The season is winding down but the competition is heating up.

Mercer County hosted its second meet of the week in order to give teams a chance to run on the course that will host the regional championship. Teams from Regions 7A, 7AA, and 7AAA were present this morning and they all hoped to not only gain some valuable experience but to also post some fast times on a challenging course.
I woke up this morning and, like many others, made the drive down I-64 to Collins High School ready to watch the debut race of Gabby Karas’ season. Delaying the start of her season to peak during Nationals, it seemed an ideal time, given the fact that this was her home meet. Unfortunately, it was not to be, as Gabby was not able to finish the race and had to drop out just before the mile due to an ankle injury. It’s a tough break for a good kid and every fan of Cross Country in Kentucky should be rooting for this young lady to make a speedy recovery and be able to represent our state on a national level.

The weather this week had been perfect: clear skies, sunshine, and mid 70’s. However, it wouldn’t be October in Kentucky if Mother Nature didn’t have her way every once in a while and a cold front accompanied by rain came through overnight and made for a chilly, windy Saturday morning.
Highlands traveled north to the Columbus area to run in the Les Eisenhart Invitational Saturday.
This morning in London there were several runners who ran their best time of the season, which does not happen very often at North Laurel. “The Jungle” has never been known to have the easiest course but circumstances were a little different today. Due to construction on the school’s tennis courts, the course had to be altered which ultimately made for a faster and more exciting race than in the past.
