Lafayette sophomore Landon Young has committed to play football and throw for the University of Kentucky in 2016.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – With his first season as head coach of the Kentucky track and field teams in the books, Edrick Floreal and his coaching staff have announced the first full recruiting class of their tenure at UK. Thirty athletes, 22 men and eight women, have signed to compete for the University of Kentucky track and field teams.

Cory Heslin just graduated from Eastern High School in Louisville. He was 8th overall in the 1600m at the Class AAA Kentucky State Track Meet this fall May. This past fall he was the #1 runner for Eastern leading them to a 6th place team finish at the Class AAA Cross Country State Championship. He will continue running next year at the University of the Cumberlands.

Tretez Kinnaird is a 2013 Butler graduate. He leaves high school as the best 800m runner in Kentucky history with a #1 time of 1:49.31. During his senior year he ran the #1 time in the United States during indoor season with a 1:50.97 in Washington. During high school he earned All-American honors and represented the USA in France in the World Youth Championship. He will continue his career at Indiana University next year.
Brandon Ignas is a 2013 North Hardin graduate. He finished his senior year up with a regional championship in the 3200m Run and helping to lead his team to the Class AAA State Team title.

Alisha Adair is a 2013 Western Hills graduate. She is a 8-time Class AA State Champion ranging from 100m - 400m. She led her team to the Class AA State Team Championship in 2012 winning three individuals events and anchoring the 4x400m Relay in a Class AA record breaking time. She will join the Wildcats at the University of Kentucky next year.
Sam Lewis is a 2013 St. Xavier High School graduate. He was the Class AAA XC Runner-Up in 2011 helping St. Xavier to the Class AAA team crown his junior year. In 2012, he was the #1 runner for the Tigers at Nike Cross Nationals finishing 16th overall. He also helped lead to a 2nd straight Class AAA Kentucky State XC crown.
Six former Kentucky high school athletes competed at the NCAA National Championship in Oregon this weekend.
Taylor Webb is a 2013 Shelby County High School graduate. She battled back from injuries to return to racing in April 2013 after one year out. Before her hip injury, she was 5th at the 2011 Kentucky State Cross Country Meet her sophomore year. She will continue her career next year at Bellarmine University.
Luke Cummins is a 2013 North Oldham graduate. He ran two years of cross country and track in high school ending his career with a 12th place finish in the 3200m at the Class AA State Championship in May. He was the 3rd scorer on the 2012 Class AA State Championship Cross Country team for North Oldham as well.

Connor Sheryak is a 2013 St. Xavier graduate. He finished his career with three individual Kentucky State Championships (1 XC, 2 Track 3200m.) He was a key part of three Class AAA Kentucky State XC Team Championships for St. Xavier and one Nike Cross Southeast Regional Championship. He will take his talents to Washington D.C. next year as he will run for Georgetown University. He wrote a reflection about Running Shoes.
