Runners of the Week Presents the Runners of the Week


Week 1 is in the books and is pleased to announce the first set of Runners of the Week for High School and Middle School races.


High School Boys Runner of the Week


Butler sophomore Patrick Gregory crossed the line second at the Tiger Run Saturday running a new best time of 15:43 for the 5000 Meter Run.  This was a ONE MINUTE improvement from his best of 16:43 last year.  Even more impressive was the fact that he was within 12 seconds of Kentucky’s best Jacob Thomson and Gregory made his opening statement to be the best in Class AAA this year.


High School Girls Runner of the Week


John Hardin senior Katie Lever placed sixth at the Tiger Run setting a new best time by over one minute from last year.  Her time of 19:08 bested her mark of 21:20 from Tiger Run last year by over TWO MINUTES .  She only finished 13 seconds behind the leading time for Class AAA adding her name to the list of possible contenders in November.


Middle School Boys Runner of the Week


St. Albert the Great 8th Grader Spencer Hayden won the Middle School Boys race at Tiger Run Saturday in a dual with North Oldham Trenton Fryman.  Hayden’s time of 10:13.18 for the 3000 Meter Run won by just over one second.  His time was a personal best by 48 seconds.


Middle School Girls Runner of the Week


Pulaski County 7th Grader Alyssa Hyden won the Middle School Girls race at the Rollback the Fee Meet on Saturday in Somerset.  She ran a personal best time of 11:06.57 which only three boys were able to beat.  This was a new best time for her by over two minutes.
