From deep, balanced lineups to teams powered by one or two elite performers, the race for statewide supremacy is shaping up to be a fun one.
Below is a breakdown of the current top teams in the state, led by a dominant No. 1 and a tightly packed group behind them.

Oldham County
Oldham County has established itself as the clear early-season frontrunner, and it's not particularly close. With 69 points, they boast both top talent and impressive depth across multiple event groups.
Clara Warrick has been nothing short of dominant, sweeping the sprints with top marks in the 100m (10), 200m (10), and 400m (10) for a massive 30-point contribution. Her ability to control all three sprint events gives Oldham County a foundation that few teams can match.
In the hurdles and field events, Aubrelle Neal adds 17.5 points with strong performances in the 100H (4), 300H (10), and high jump (3.5), showcasing her versatility. Olivia Jasper supplements the sprint group with additional scoring in the 200m (2) and 400m (4), while Bella Dykes contributes in the high jump (3.5).
The relays are equally impactful. Oldham County's 4x100m relay leads the state (10 points), and their 4x800m group chips in additional scoring (2), reinforcing their balance from sprints to distance.
This is a complete team with scoring threats in nearly every event category, sprints, hurdles, jumps, and relays, and they are the early benchmark for the rest of the state. If they can find some throwers to include, they will be a tough team to beat.
Walden
Walden sits firmly in second, powered by one of the most dominant individual performers in Kentucky.
Natalie Svidal accounts for an astounding 26 of the team's 34 points, excelling across two disciplines: 100H (10), long jump (6), and triple jump (10). Her ability to score at a high level in both track and field events makes her one of the most valuable athletes in the state.
Kate Tyler provides the perfect complement in the horizontal jumps, adding 8 points in the long jump. Together, the duo gives Walden a powerful presence in the jumps and hurdles.
While Walden lacks the depth of Oldham County, their top athlete scoring makes them a contender. If they can find additional contributors as the season progresses, they could close the gap.
Woodford County
Woodford County is one of the most balanced teams in the state, with contributions spread across nearly every event group.
Hannah McColl leads the sprint efforts with 8 points in the 100m, while Charla Gormley adds 4 points in the 300H. The distance side is anchored by Addison Moore, who contributes 12 points with a dominant 3200m performance (10) and additional scoring in the 400m (2), highlighting her range if she chooses to compete in those events. Moore will certainly add her name to the 1600m and 800m list as the season progresses.
The team's 4x800m relay adds another 5 points, and I'Yana Leath chips in 4 points in the triple jump, rounding out a lineup that can score in sprints, distance, hurdles, relays, and field events.
Woodford County may not have the single event dominance of some teams (yet...), but their balance makes them a dangerous contender in championship style meets.
Frederick Douglass
Frederick Douglass brings a sprint heavy attack backed by strong relay units and key field event contributions.
O'Naya Harris leads the way in the sprints, scoring in both the 100m (2) and 200m (4). Jaelyn Burks adds 6 points in the 300H, giving the team a solid hurdle presence.
Where Douglass really shines is in the relays. Their 4x200m relay sits at the top of the state (10 points), while the 4x100m relay adds another 3 points, making them a dangerous team in the standings.
Field events also play a role, with Abbigail Williams scoring 4 points in the long jump and Adora Doodnauth adding 1 point in the triple jump.
This is a team built on speed, and if their relays continue to perform at a high level, they will remain firmly in the title conversation.
Teams 5 - 10: Bishop Brossart, Lexington Catholic, Male, Bourbon County & Sacred Heart
The next group of teams is tightly bunched, with just a few points separating positions five through ten. Each brings a unique identity and could move up with the right performances.
Bishop Brossart is anchored by elite field event production. Ava Walters dominates the throws with 16 combined points in discus and shot put, while Anna Curtsinger adds 5.5 in the pole vault. Their 4x800m relay contributes as well, but it looks like field events is where they can make some noise in the overall standings.
Lexington Catholic is a pure distance and middle distance squad, Lexington Catholic relies entirely on Abigail Turner (1600m - 8, 800m - 10) and Sarah Scott (800m - 6). Their concentration in these events makes them extremely dangerous in Class 2A.
Male's strength lies in the sprints. Grace Bethel accounts for 16 points in the 200m and 400m, while the 4x100m relay adds 8 more. Their sprint core keeps them competitive with any team in the state and we all know that is not all that Male will have to offer this season.
Bourbon County relay strength defines their team. Their 4x400m (10) and 4x800m (4) combine for the majority of scoring, while Marleigh Estes adds 8 points in the 800m.
Sacred Heart features a balanced lineup led by Lucy Gaunt in the distance events (1600m - 1, 3200m - 3). Soren Wilson (400m - 5), Caroline Cundiff (800m - 4), and strong relay performances (4x200m - 5, 4x400m - 2) provide depth across multiple areas.
North Oldham is another distance heavy squad, with Elle Cargould (1600m - 5, 3200m - 6) leading the way. Millie Huang adds a point in the 3200m, and their 4x800m relay contributes 6 points, solidifying their strength in longer events.
