The 2026 Kentucky girls cross country season enters a new era after graduating a strong senior class in 2026. Gone are state stars like Mabel George (Assumption), Addison Moore (Woodford County), Lily Parke (Beechwood), Bailee Montgomery (DuPont Manual), Elle Cargould (North Oldham), Susanne Estepp (Paul Laurence Dunbar), Isabella Day (Larue County), Shelby Lamb (Madison Central), Caroline Fritz (Lafayette), Billie Phemister (Henry Clay), Marleigh Estes (Bourbon County), Savannah Mooney (Bullitt East), Mayci Moore (Webster County), Caitlin Perkins (Assumption), Avery Vanlandingham (Conner), and Brianna Hillock (Adair County).
While those athletes leave a significant void, the returning talent has great potential and is deep. Kentucky features an exceptional mix of experienced seniors and a talented sophomore and junior class.

Baili Hoten (Thomas Nelson, Class of 2027)
The fastest returning athlete in Kentucky enters 2026 after running 17:47.10 and winning the Central Kentucky Run for the Gold. With every runner ahead of her graduating, Hoten becomes the clear preseason favorite for the state championship.
Kennedy Moughamian (Lexington Christian, Class of 2028)
One of the state's brightest young stars, Moughamian posted an outstanding 17:53.23 while winning the Bourbon County Colonel Charge. Already among Kentucky's elite as an underclassman, she has the talent to challenge for the state title immediately.
Abigail Turner (Lexington Catholic, Class of 2027)
Turner quietly assembled one of Kentucky's best seasons with an 18:04.80 performance. Lexington Catholic graduates several key contributors, but Turner is more than capable of leading the Knights back into championship contention.
Millie Huang (North Oldham, Class of 2028)
North Oldham loses Elle Cargould to graduation, but Huang's 18:09.90 performance signals that the Mustangs will remain among Kentucky's elite. She appears poised for a breakout junior campaign.
Abby Jones (Ballard, Class of 2029)
Perhaps the most exciting young runner in Kentucky, Jones ran 18:12.71 as a freshman. Already among the state's top returners, her upside over the next several years is tremendous.
Anna Dawahare (Lexington Catholic, Class of 2027)
Dawahare gives Lexington Catholic one of the state's best one-two combinations in combination with Abigail Turner after running 18:18.90. Expect the Knights to be among the strongest teams in Class 2A.

Cundiff established herself as Sacred Heart's next star after posting 18:28.58. The Valkyries once again appear loaded with young talent.

Following the graduation of Bailee Montgomery, Maudlin becomes the face of Manual's next generation after an outstanding freshman season that included an 18:29.32 best.
June Karls (Lexington Christian, Class of 2027)
Karls gives Lexington Christian yet another elite scorer after breaking 18:31. The Eagles may have one of the strongest front threes in the state.
Grace Horan (North Oldham, Class of 2028)
North Oldham continues to reload with Horan returning after an 18:32.05 season. Alongside Huang and Audrey Perkins, the Mustangs should remain a team title contender.
Sophia Anderson (Henry Clay, Class of 2027)
After Billie Phemister graduates, Anderson takes over as Henry Clay's top returning runner. Her 18:33.71 puts her squarely among the state's top dozen returners.
Lucy Gaunt (Sacred Heart, Class of 2029)
Gaunt impressed throughout her freshman campaign, running 18:36.08. Sacred Heart's future continues to look exceptionally promising.
Diana Nava (Oldham County, Class of 2027)
Nava enters 2026 after an 18:39.08 season and should be among the leaders in one of Kentucky's strongest regions.
Maura Ferguson (Assumption, Class of 2029)
Assumption graduates Mabel George and several veterans, but Ferguson's 18:39.50 freshman campaign gives the Rockets an outstanding foundation moving forward.
Peyton Reid (Owensboro Catholic, Class of 2027)
Although competing unattached, Reid's national-level performances-including an 18:40.71 and runner-up finish at RunningLane-make her one of Kentucky's elite distance runners entering the fall.
Molly Chambers (Sayre, Class of 2028)
Chambers continues to emerge as one of Class 1A's premier runners after posting 18:44.82.
Allie Doran (Greenwood, Class of 2029)
Doran announced herself with a conference championship and an 18:49.22 performance as a freshman. Greenwood appears well-positioned despite graduating several veterans.
Maddison Bates (Central Hardin, Class of 2028)
Bates captured a regional championship while running 18:54.39 and enters 2026 with a chance to be in the top 10 at state for Class 3A.
Lila Dunlevy (Campbell County, Class of 2028)
Dunlevy broke 19 minutes as an underclassman and gives Campbell County a legitimate frontline runner heading into the season.
Audrey Perkins (North Oldham, Class of 2027)
Perkins rounds out a loaded North Oldham trio and should help keep the Mustangs firmly in the hunt for another team championship.
Elizabeth Mathews (Walden, Class of 2027)
Mathews demonstrated tremendous potential with a strong national showing at RunningLane and enters the season among Kentucky's top returning talents.
Stella Carpenter (Ryle, Class of 2028)
Carpenter leads a rapidly improving Ryle squad after finishing the season with a 19:09.20 best.

Lafayette graduates Caroline Fritz, but Heenan-Menges gives the Generals another outstanding young talent after running 19:21.20 as a freshman.
Libby Gipe (Sacred Heart, Class of 2027)
Gipe adds even more depth to Sacred Heart's loaded lineup after winning the Metro JV Regional and finishing with a 19:24.53 best.
Charlotte Johnson (Greenwood, Class of 2027)
Johnson's consistent improvement culminated in a 19:25.14 season and gives Greenwood another proven scorer alongside Allie Doran.
Margaret Dulaney (Louisville Collegiate, Class of 2027)
The reigning Region 3 Class 1A champion returns after a 19:26.48 season and should once again contend for state honors.
Abigail Multerer (DuPont Manual, Class of 2028)
Manual's rebuilding effort will revolve around Multerer, whose 19:26.80 performance signals significant upside.
Aubrey Poore (Ryle, Class of 2027)
Poore joins Carpenter to give Ryle one of the stronger returning duos in Northern Kentucky.
Katherine McKee (Campbell County, Class of 2027)

Gracie Roberts (Harlan County, Class of 2028)
Roberts captured a regional title and continues to emerge as one of Eastern Kentucky's top distance runners.
Faith Foote (Cooper, Class of 2027)
Foote returns after an excellent postseason and should help keep Cooper among Northern Kentucky's best teams.
Katelyn Best (South Warren, Class of 2027)
Best's runner-up finish at the SKY Conference Championships highlights a season that positions her among the state's best returning seniors.
Madison Price (DuPont Manual, Class of 2027)
Price gives Manual another experienced front-runner as the Crimsons rebuild following graduation.
Alexis Arroyo (Eastern, Class of 2027)
Arroyo quietly developed into one of Region 4's strongest runners and should continue climbing the state rankings.
Jamison Bessinger (Frankfort, Class of 2027)
Bessinger rounds out the list after posting a 19:48.80 performance that suggests continued improvement heading into her senior season.
The 2026 girls season promises to be a fun season. Baili Hoten begins the season as the favorite, but Abigail Turner, Kennedy Moughamian, Millie Huang, Anna Dawahare, Abby Jones, Caroline Cundiff, Grace Horan, June Karls, Sophia Anderson, Peyton Reid, and Maddison Bates all have legitimate All-State and championship aspirations.
Perhaps the biggest storyline, however, is the incredible youth movement. Underclassmen such as Abby Jones, Hadley Raisor, Celia Maudlin, Maura Ferguson, Lucy Gaunt, Allie Doran, Macyn Heenan-Menges, Sadie Chalfant, Adalyn Filiatreau, Abby Creason, Callie Ochsner, Danielle Shone, Julia Lowry, Audrey Nuetzman, Emma Massengill, Nina Tibbs, Addison Hagan, Evelyn Carpenter, Clara Kaiser, and Addy Alvey have already demonstrated remarkable talent, suggesting the future of Kentucky girls cross country has a very bright future.
