FRESHMAN BRANDON NICHOLS RUNS 47.60 AT STATE, #1 FROSH TIME IN THE NATION

As an eighth grader Brandon Nichols ran a 49.68 at the Region 5 AAA Championship last year, thus setting up the possibility of him being the next great 400m runner in Kentucky a few years later.  Well he skipped the few years and developed into a truly great 400m runner as a freshman in 2009. 

He cracked the 49 second barrier for the first time in mid-April and then came really close the 48 second barrier in mid-May with a 48.02.  He saved the best for last as he ran a 47.60 at the Kentucky State Track Meet just .04 at the Kentucky State Record that was set in 1983.

This performance gave him the #1 time in nation in the 400m for all freshmen.  Did I mention he also anchored the State Championship winning 800m and 1600m Relay teams at the same meet?
