Location

All of the 2010 series events will take place at BREC’s Hooper Road Park. The trails are well maintained throughout the year by BREC and the Baton Rouge Area Mountain Bike Association. The Park offers miles of trails and even a connector trail to BREC’s Comite Park, another beautiful trail system.

Directions

From I-110 take exit 6 towards LA-408/Southern University/Metro Airport.  Merge onto LA-408 EAST/Harding BLVD towards LA-67/Plank Road. As you cross Plank Rd. Harding blvd becomes Hooper Rd. Stay on Harding/Hooper for 1.9 miles from the interstate.  Turn LEFT onto Sharon Hills BLVD. Turn RIGHT onto Guynell and continue driving until you run into the park.

The Park is located in the back of a subdivision, so don’t freak out when all you see are houses.

Wave Starts. All races will start in waves based on each athletes estimated 5k time. Elite athletes will always be in the first wave. This will help to ensure that each race runs as smooth as possible.

Distance. The race distance and course will be different for each race, however the distance will be around 4 miles.

Chip Timing. We are using chip timing for all series races. Athletes will pick up their chips on race morning. If you forget to pick up your timing chip you will not be scored, regardless of where you think you finished.

Age Groups. In order to maintain the points system all athletes will compete in the age group based on their age as of December 31st, 2010. This means that the age you are when the year ends is the age in which you will be classified for age-groups. This applies even if you only run in one race.

Packet pick-up will be on Thursday, January 7th from 4pm-7pm at The Backpacker on Jefferson Blvd. You may also pick up your packet on race morning from 6:00-8:30am. It’s important to note that EVERYONE must pick up their timing chip on race morning. If your forget to do this you’re going to be hosed.
