McKenzie Bell started her 2019 season well with a win at the Wildcat Classic in the 400m
As we embark on the outdoor track and field season, we are going to break down all 14 individual events for the boys and girls across the state. Not only will you find the overall rankings, but also who leads each of the three classifications (A, AA, & AAA) but also who are the top athletes in each graduating class (2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022). Can you believe it? Outdoor season is coming soon!
Last outdoor season, Jeffersontown's Kaleb McDonald dominated the sprint events throughout the entire season. In fact, she did not lose a meet all outdoor season with the exception of a 4th place finish at the Eastern Relays in the 400m. Two Kentucky girls beat her that day with Saleia Porter from Fort Knox and McKenzie Bell from Spencer County. Both of those young ladies have new schools in 2019. Porter has moved out of state and Bell is now a Sacred Heart Valkyrie. McDonald ran away with the Class AAA state championship (56.17), winning by over a second. Meanwhile, Bell won the Class AA title (57.08) by over second as well. This will be a fun one to watch now that they are both in Class AAA.
