Trinity's Warren is Tops in Boy's 1600m Returning Athletes

There are times that I feel like a broken record when we discuss those athletes that are tops in the returning lists. Last year is was Yard Nuguse and his absolute dominance of the distance events. This year we do not have quite that level of dominance, but there is definitely a crew that have separated themselves from the field. Trevor Warren of Trinity has not given us any reason to to think that he is the one to beat in the 1600 this season. He was the class AAA state runner up and has posted the best time in the mile indoor in 2018 by 2 seconds. He was the Wildcat Classic champion and top Kentucky finisher at the UK High School Invitational in 4th place. Right on his heels is the class AAA cross country state champion Dylan Allen of Male who was second at the Wildcat Classic to Warren. Other names to watch include Austin Mathews of Dunbar and and St. Xavier duo of Cooper Marchal and Grady Shiflet. Dunbar's Mathews was third at the class AAA cross country meet and has been incredibly consistent this indoor season. The Tiger pair of Marchal and Shiflet rank 3rd and 5th indoor for the state and represented St. Xavier last year at the outdoor state championship in 5th and 6th. Outside of class AAA, Keeton Thornsberry and Spencer Carman hold down the top spots in class A and class AA respectively. Thornsberry has been MIA this indoor season, likely due to his varsity playing time on the Holy Cross basketball team or maybe just saving for a solid outdoor season. Regardless, the boy's 1600m is deep so stay tuned!

All of the guys mentioned above took to the track at the 2018 Wildcat Classic.
