Louisville, Ky. Spalding University track
and field/cross country program announced 11 additions to its 2015-16
recruiting class on Friday.
Of the 11 newcomers announced on Friday, six are men and five are women.
Lucas Overmyer (Bowling Green, Ohio), Robert Daugherty (Webster County), Natalie Shirley (Academy at Shawnee), and Nina Kersey (John Hardin) will contribute among the team in both cross country and track.
While in the sprints/hurdles and jumps the
program adds transfer Austin Fields (Georgetown College, St. Xavier), Kenneth
Jones, Jonathon O' Bryant (North Hardin), Ashley Chase (Coldwater, MI), Nina's
teammate J'Anna Jones (John Hardin), and Kelsey Hamilton (Hancock County). Finally rounding the incoming class strength
was added in the throws department with the addition of Cameron Mitchell.
The eleven additions bring Spalding’s total of newcomers for next season to 16
(9 men and 7 women).
First year Head Coach Bradley Sowder stated of the new comers, "We are
very pleased with the level of experience and talent we have brought in with
this class. Several of the young men and
women have competed at the highest level possible for their respected
states. This class will be the largest
yet to come into the program. We expect
for them to leave a mark not only within the team, but at the conference and
regional level.
