State Meet Preview: 3A & 4A Classifications

Boys 4A

The boys' 4A competition is easily the hardest classification to pin down a true favorite. Almost a half dozen teams have a serious shot at taking home the team title this weekend. That grouping of teams is William Fleming, Midlothian, Loudoun Valley, Grafton, Heritage (NN), and Amherst County.

Each of these teams will rely heavily on their top scorers as each team lacks the depth to run away with a title and thus that means this state meet, more so than any other, will require athletes to step up to their highest level to win.

It should be noted though that Midlothian were the East Champions and William Fleming were the West Champions meaning on paper these are the two teams to meet. Getting better the further they go into the season though are Loudoun Valley, Grafton, and Heritage (NN).

Heritage will look to Towns and Payne for some huge points in the sprints, hurdles, and jumps.Valley and Grafton though will be focused on scoring a ton of distance points from the Owens brothers (Grafton) and Valley duo of Bogucki and Morris.

Unlike regionals, this meet will be a mixture of talent and depth and on paper William Fleming may have just enough of both to come away with the win but like we said, this one is going to be close and come down to the relays.
