2012 Oldham County Sundown Invitational
Thursday, May 1, 2014

The Oldham County Sundown Invitational will again be held on the Thursday prior to the Kentucky Derby. We again expect a very competitive field and a great meet. To help everybody prepare for the regional format, we will be running the meet on the regional time schedule.

In order to make this schedule happen, we need to limit the fields to the top 18 athletes (3 heats for laned races). To accommodate your runners who might not make these cut-offs, we will run select open events prior to the invitational section so that everyone can at least get a race in. The schedule for the meet is below:

5:00pm Open Running Events (non-scoring, max 3 per team, girls followed by boys):
100m Dash
1600m Run
100m/110m HH

5:00pm Field Events
Girls Shot Put, High Jump, Long Jump
Boys Discus, Triple Jump

Invitational Running Events (max 2 individuals, 1 relay per team):

6:00 Girls 4 x 800 Meter Relay
6:15 Boys 4 x 800 Meter Relay
6:30 Girls 100 Meter High Hurdles

Entries will be via MileSplit Online Entry only. Plan ahead to do your entries. Please visit for instructions on how to enter. A performance that cannot be verified will be disregarded. The pole vault competition will be held Tuesday, April 29, at North Oldham HS at 5:30pm. Horizontal jumps and throws will be trials/finals, with the top 7 following the initial 3 trials receiving 3 additional attempts. (NOTE: In order to keep the field events running smoothly, athletes in field events will not be excused to check out from the field event to run in the non-scored, open running events).

Entries will close on Monday, April 28. If you are not entered by the time entries close, you will not be participating in the meet. Due to the format of the meet, we will not allow additions or substitutions after entries have closed. Heat sheets will be available on Wednesday, May 1, so that you will be able to see who made the cut-offs. Please only enter athletes in events where they have a high probability of actually competing, and scratch any athletes you know will not be competing by Wednesday evening so that we can fill that lane with another deserving athlete. Unlike last year, if there are empty lanes in the faster heats, we will move runners up from the slower heats to fill all lanes in the faster heats.

The entry fee is $70/team (boys and girls teams separate) if received by Monday, April 28, or $80/team after that date. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 in each event, and the top 2 boys and girls teams will receive trophies. Scoring in all events will be 10-8-6-4-2-1.
