Girls Championship

"Going for the Win"

This is battle between two runners that have not raced each other this year.  Nikki Coffey (Boyle County) faces off against Kelly Brown (Bell County.)  Both have had successful years and it is very interesting that they have not raced.  The regional is on the home course of Brown which drives the advantage her way just slightly.

"Team Hunt"

Rockcastle County has long owned this region in track and now they are reversing the favor as they look to win the XC region as well.  Alyssa Cox and Sierra Mercer lead the way for Rockcastle.  They will face competition from Boyle County.  Boyle has Coffey up front and is better than Rockcastle through four, but they lose valuable points at #5.  The fight for the last two qualifying spots is wide open with Corbin, Knox Central, Wayne County, and Wayne County all in the running.

Boys Championship

"Going for the Win"

The Individual race looks like Trevor Shearer's of Wayne County to win, but he will face big competition from Cole Grecco of Garrard County, Nathan Tanner of Bell County, and Bryant Qualls of Mercer County.  At Lexington Catholic on October 20th Shearer finished 9 seconds ahead of Grecco.

"Team Hunt"

The team race is tight between Mercer County and West Jesamine.  Wayne County will try to mix it up with them as well.  The scores will not be particularly low so team depth will play into this race big time.  On paper, Mercer and West Jessamine look nearly identical.  At the KTCCCA Meet of Champions, WJ had a score of 358 to Mercer's 392, converting that to a small regional race and it projects to a tight one.

This region should easily get five team spots out to state, so watch the battle in the middle as McCreary Central, Bell County, East Jessamine, and Boyle County will all fight for two spots.
