In what has been a consistent for multiple years the best girl in this part of the state has been Kelly Brown (Bell County.) The trend continues this year with Brown leading the charge as the obvious favorite who should win big. She won the SEKC meet on Thursday with a 20:41 at Corbin. Danielle Hickman from Corbin was third in that same meet with a 22:37. She will have company with Kassie Rouse and Breanna Epperson, both of Harlan County right behind her fighting for 2nd overall behind Brown.
Varsity Boys -
At the SEKC meet, Nathan Tanner of Bell County was 2nd overall, but Saturday he is going for the win. He will have a couple of runners from Letcher County Central pushing him.
