Double S Stampede Recap
The rolling hills of the Double Stink Hog Farm just outside of Georgetown, KY were graced with perfect weather for Cross Country as the skies were clear and the temperature hung around the upper 50s. The first race of the day, Boys Varsity was shot off at 9am right on the dot and from that point on, the meet could have been classified as the Paul Lawrence Dunbar show. A large pack formed at the front early, but heavily characterized by 4 Dunbar runners, led by Malik Mahmud and Kendell Muhammed, and Shelley Deharte of Rowan County. Throughout the second half of the race, Dunbar consistently had their top 7 in the top 10 of the field. Mahmud pulled away from the pack and his fellow teammates in the third mile, taking the victory in 16:29. Four Dunbar athletes followed him: Kendall Muhammed (16:48), Kyle Sprague (16:50), William Keplinger (17:06), and Joseph Ash (17:06) giving them a perfect score for the meet.
