The Southern Athletic Association has announced the men's and women's cross country Runners of the Week for events raced through September 9. Centre earned both the recipients with Ashley El Rady (pictured) claiming the women's honor and John Burke earning the men's nod for the Colonels.
El Rady, a sophomore for the Colonels, came away with an individual win at the Centre Invitational this past weekend. Ashley toured the very challenging and muddy 5K course in 19:44. She led the Centre women to a first place team finish in the meet en route to earning the Runner of the Week honor.
Burke, also a sophomore for Centre, finished first for his team and fourth place overall at the Centre Invitational this past weekend. John toured the very challenging and muddy 8K course in 27:58; almost a minute and a half faster than his time on the same course in perfect conditions last year. John led the Centre men to a second place team finish in the meet on his way to claiming the Runner of the Week distinction.
Winners were determined in exclusive voting held by the SAA cross county coaches.
