The UK High School Invitational was held Saturday in Lexington, KY. The invitational has grown into quite an event. There were athletes in attendance from 18 states and Washington D.C. With such tough competition (5 U.S. #1's in '06) Kentucky athletes held their own in the invite-only race. There were ten Kentucky individuals and two relays in the top five of their respected races. Kentucky had 3 qualify for Nike Indoor Nationals with the performances on Saturday:
Senior Ron Duncan (Fleming County) 9:26.09 in the Boys 2-mile run
Senior Thomas Davis (Saint Xavier) 4:21.55 in the Boys 1-mile run
Saint Xavier Boys 3200-meter relay team qualified with an 8:10.14
The highest overall Kentucky finisher was Kortni Dukes (Scott) with a 11:18.35 3rd place finish in the Girls 2-mile run. Other top performances include:
