The start of The Cross Country season may have already passed but the looming start of the school year is closing in on the runners faster that Leonel Manzano’s kick. This weekend, at Masterson Station Park in Lexington Kentucky the annual Henry Clay Invitational was held. This year the race featured only four races with over ten teams. The day started out at a pleasant & sunny 70 degrees at 8am and then climbed to a sizzling 92 degrees with a heat index of 96 degrees at 11: 30am forcing the meet officials to cancel the reserves’ races. This year the course changed to a new course that started near the expanded part of the dog park, went around the prison loop and then onto the soccer fields nearest the front of the park then back-tracking to a perfect finish where the runners turned for home and had a tunnel of teammates and coaches for 200 meters.
