The second full week of September produced another impressive collection of girls cross country performances across Kentucky, with the state's top runners continuing to push the pace and several teams showing the depth that could become important when the postseason arrives.

Leading the way was Baili Hoten (Thomas Nelson), who ran 18:06.60 to win the Eagle Classic on Saturday. Hoten's performance was the fastest girls 5K of the week by more than five seconds and gave her the top spot on the statewide performance list. Adalyn Filiatreau, also of Thomas Nelson, added a 20:24.70 performance at the same meet, finishing 68th.

The Rumble Through the Jungle once again provided an enormous amount of depth, with Celia Maudlin (Dupont Manual) leading the way. Maudlin ran 19:09.70 to win the race and rank sixth statewide for the week. Elizabeth Mathews (Walden) was second in 19:21.70, followed by Maura Ferguson (Assumption) in 19:32.10 and June Karls (Lexington Christian) in 19:36.60. Margaret Dulaney (Louisville Collegiate) rounded out the top five in the race with a 19:42.70.
The depth continued well beyond the top five at the Rumble. Sadie Parks (Frederick Douglass) ran 19:47.00, Faith Foote (Eastern) clocked 19:47.70, Grace Horan (North Oldham) ran 19:50.90 and Claire Butler (Christian Academy-Louisville) posted 19:51.90. All four finished inside the top 20 on the weekly statewide list.

Along with Maudlin's victory, Abigail Multerer ran 20:05.50, Madison Price ran 20:14.60, Adelaide McDonald posted 20:27.30, and Ava Basa ran 20:57.20. The Crimsons also had Eloise Roth, Ella Mohr, Allison Multerer and Molly Barrett among the deeper group of finishers.
At the FORD Energy Systems Fairgrounds Frenzy, Abigail Jones (Ballard) turned in the seventh-fastest performance of the week, winning the freshman race in 19:19.30. Sarah Haines (Ballard) added a 20:41.80 performance and finished fourth in the freshman race, giving Ballard two runners inside the top five of that race. The Fairgrounds Frenzy also produced a pair of strong performances from Larue County. Abby Creason, a member of the Class of 2031, ran 19:31.94 for second in the race, while Emma Creason was third in 19:52.55. Their performances gave Larue County two runners inside the top three of the race. The week also highlighted some of Kentucky's emerging younger runners.
Addy Alvey (
Apollo), a freshman, broke 19 minutes with her 18:57.90 runner-up finish at Owensboro.
Abby Creason (
Larue County),
Eleanor Pendleton (
Bowling Green) and
Morgan Ripley (
Highlands) all represented the Class of 2031 among the week's top 15 performances. The results also included even younger runners, including
Elizabeth Dudley (
Adair County), a Class of 2032 runner who ran 21:01.25 at the Fairgrounds Frenzy. With three runners under 18:20 and another nine under 19:40, the top of the statewide girls list was particularly impressive this week. Just as importantly, the Rumble Through the Jungle showed depth, with multiple established programs putting several runners inside the top 25 of the weekly list.
