Alex Connelly is a senior at Covington Catholic and will attend Georgetown College next year to play football.  He was the 2009 Class AA State High Jump Champion. 

 

 

 

KY: How did you get started in track? Why out of all the jumps did you get into the HJ?

 

 

AC: My jumping coach is my best friends’ dad and we played basketball together. My freshman year he asked me to come out and try it but I kind of threw it off. Then my sophomore year he pretty much told me to come out or else. He always told me the reason I should try is because he knew I could dunk in 8th grade and he saw that my hips were high when I would jump so he said HJ was for me.


KY: You had a big PR last weekend at the Coaches Classic in Ohio with a 6-08 jump, were you ready for a big jump?
