Kentucky New Balance Nationals Day Two/Three Action
The second day of New Balance Indoor Nationals brought saw one Kentucky relay in action and a rare (for Kentucky at least) multi’s athlete. The third brought us a sophomore looking to gain some national experience.
- Grayson County senior Daniel Buckles made the trip to New York to compete in the Pentathlon. Normally, a jack of all trade for Grayson County competing in the hurdles, jumps, and throws, the pentathlon makes perfect sense. He ended up placing 20th overall with a score of 3096 points. In the five events he had marks of 9.29 in the 60 Meter Hurdles, 19-10.75 for the Long Jump, 43-01 in the Shot Put, 5-08 in the High Jump, and 3:10.05 for the 1000 Meter Run. His time in the 60 Meter Hurdles was a new career best. The event winner Gunnar Nixon broke the national record for the event indoors.
- The ladies of Assumption were back in action after a 9:49 4x800m Relay on Friday, this time competing in the 4xMile Relay. Katherine Receveur, Emily Bean, and Caroline McCaslin were three of the four on the squad. They ran a 22:24.95 which is a 5:36 average per runner.
- Butler sophomore Tretez Kinnaird ran with the big dogs in the 800m Run. Fresh off his victory and meet record at the Mason-Dixon Games last week he finished 29th overall with a 1:57.20. He was the top sophomore overall in the 800m Run.
