Sean Hurd, senior at Christian County High School in Hopkinsville has committed to run at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. He dominated the far western Kentucky area this past fall on his way to a 4th place finish in the Class AAA Kentucky State Cross Country Meet. He was chosen first team All-State and the Area 1 Runner of the Year by the KTCCCA. Last spring in track he ran a personal best time of 9:49 to finish 6th overall in the 3200m Run at the Class AAA Kentucky State Track Meet.
KYtrackXC.com asked Hurd why he decided to become a Hilltopper and he said, “I just felt like God directed me towards Western Kentucky, because of the opportunities they offered both academically and athletically. At WKU I will be able to pursue an engineering degree and I felt that Coach Jenkins and Coach Long will help me to become the best runner I can be.”
He opened up his senior indoor track season with a victory in the 3000m Run at the West Region High School Invitational in Murray.
