Asked why he chose Memphis, Carter said, “Memphis is just an overall good fit for me.  I will have an opportunity to contribute early and look forward to playing a role in helping grow the distance program at Memphis the next four years.”  Carter also looks forward to teaming with former Paducah St. Mary standout and Class A Champion, James Maglasang, who joined the Tigers last fall.

Carter’s accomplishments also include the 2009 Class AAA, Region 3 individual XC title and 3rd place finishes last spring in the 1600 meter run and 4 x 400 meter relay at the 2010 Class AAA Kentucky State Meet.  He chose Memphis over Tennessee, Air Force, Navy, Pepperdine and Colorado School of Mines.
