The Comets showed their youth tonight at Heath High School, but even with a team loaded with new runners they still had success. Senior veteran Sarah Rogers led off the action with a 15th finish in the Varsity Girls Race. Even with some extra running beyond the standard 3.1 miles, she finished in 28:20. (race leaders turned the wrong way.) The Varsity Boys race had five Comets, all sophomore and older. Sophomore Jared O’Neill in his first 5K ever finished 15th overall with a time of 20:31. Senior Josh Wilkinson was 34th at 22:38.
The JV Race was everyone 9th grade and under on the team. They rolled finishing second overall as a team. Three runners finished in the top 10 led by Tanner Ogden in 6th, Quincy Gamble 8th, and Noah Garnett in 10th. 8th grader Nicholas Patterson after only a couple practices placed 12th overall. 6th grader Connor Grogan rounded out the top five.
Congratulations to all the runners and the season is looking bright.
