St. X Announces Kentucky Dream Mile

 Coaches,

We would like to invite you and your athlete’s to be a part of Kentucky distance running history, as we announce the inaugural running of the Kentucky Dream Mile for boys and girls.

The purpose of this event is to bring together, on one night and at one venue, the most elite high school milers from throughout the state, under the most optimal of conditions, at a time of the season to produce times worthy of national recognition.

2010 Kentucky Dream Mile Meet Information

Schedule of Events:

8:00 PM – Introduction of Girls Kentucky Dream Mile participants
8:10 PM – Running of the Inaugural Girls Kentucky Dream Mile 
8:20 PM – Girls Kentucky Dream Mile Awards Presentation
8:30 PM – Introduction of Boys Kentucky Dream Mile participants
8:40 PM – Running of the Inaugural Boys Kentucky Dream Mile
8:50 PM – Boys Kentucky Dream Mile Awards Presentation

Entry Standards:

Boys:    1600 - 4:25  or  Mile: 4:27
Girls:    1600 - 5:20  or  Mile: 5:22

All reported times must be run outdoors during the 2010 season (through and including meets run May 1) and should be able to be verified.  Any time that cannot be verified may be disallowed. 

If you have a verified time that is within 5 seconds of the standard or a time previous to the qualifying window that falls within the standard and would like to be put on a provisional status list, you are welcome to submit an entry.  The games committee also reserves the right to add any at-large participants they feel will be competitive or for the purpose of serving as a race rabbit.  

NOTE: If you are a female runner or coach a female runner who may have an interest in being a rabbit in the girls race with an average 800 time of approximately 2:20 - 2:25, please let us know.

There is no entry fee for participants

We will fill the fields with a maximum of 16 runners per race, including a rabbit.  We may also seed alternates for each race in the event that someone needs to drop out.  We plan to rabbit the races for at least 800 meters at an agreed upon pace, predetermined by participating coaches and/or runners.

The Kentucky Dream Mile will also be run as part of the North Hardin Invitational.  Thus, if your team is running at North Hardin on Saturday, May 8, 2010, the combination will count as one meet towards your team’s overall meet total.

We will be accepting entries starting today, Saturday, April, 17, 2010 and running through Sunday, May 2, 2010.  We will announce the fields for the races on Monday, May 3, 2010.  For those of you traveling over two hours, if you’d prefer not traveling back the same night, we will make arrangements to house you with one of our families after the race.

Also include a short bio for your introduction: Should be 100 words or less.  RE: List three major accomplishments: can be best times, major championships, best finish in a major event, etc.  If participant is a senior: List college choice or colleges currently being considered.
