As we embark on the outdoor track and field season, we are going to break down all 14 individual events for the boys and girls across the state. Not only will you find the overall rankings, but also who leads each of the three classifications (A, AA, & AAA) but also who are the top athletes in each graduating class (2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022). The girls shot put field is young and talented. Sophomore Angel Lee was the Class AAA state champion as a freshman and returns with the top throw in the state and nearly 4 feet further than her next closest competitor. The Class AA competition looks to be the tightest of the three classes with Zoe Yeast of Mercer County and Ciara Mosely of Taylor County fighting for the top spot. Mosely got the best of Yeast at the state meet in 2018, so watch this one closely. Brenna Hayes of Casey County may have something to say about the state title as well.
