Kentucky Sending Athletes to the Down Under Games

Kentucky will be sending several high school age track and cross country athletes to the 21st annual Down Under Games to be held on the Australian Gold Coast.

Athletes from all 50 States, Australia and New Zealand will be competing in the track and cross country portions of the DownUnder Games which also includes Basketball, Football, Golf, Swimming, Volleyball and Wrestling.

The Kentucky Track Team will be teamed with athletes from Oklahoma to form Team Kentucky-Oklahoma and will be coached by Dwight Pankey of Oklahoma.  The team will compete at Griffin University in Surfers Paradise Australia on July 3- July 5.

The Members of the Kentucky Track team are: Kotey Crowe- Pulaski Southwestern, Natalie Cubbage- Grayson Co, Cequinta Dunn- Green Co, Maurisha Griffin- Louisville Male HS,  Anthony Head- McLean Co, Courtney Hisel- Scott Co,  and Charles Padgett- Larue Co

The Kentucky Cross Country team will be combined with runners from California and Oklahoma to form Team California, Kentucky and Oklahoma. The team will be coached by Paul Wise of DeSales HS and Gary Foster of Bullitt East.

The Cross Country team will race 2 times while in Australia. On July 15 the team will race in the All-American Championships at Pizzy Park in Surfers Paradise then on July 18 will compete in the International Race held in Brisbane Australia.

The members of the Kentucky Cross Country team are: Brooke Bemiss- Warren East, Bradley Foster- Bullitt East, Alex Hack- Louisville Butler and Troy Mattingly- DeSales.
