It came down to the end not the normal end, but a re-running of the Boys 300m Hurdles. #1 seed Caric Denson (Paducah Tilghman) fell during the normal running of the race and in the process took out the Stephen Miller (Lone Oak.) After a couple of appeals it was decided the race would be re-ran at the end of the meet without the disqualified Denson. Going into this re-run, the team title winner picture was cloudy at best. Central and Covington Catholic were tied at 61 points each. Each team had one compeitior in the race, Diaz Bolden (Central) and Paul Cusick (Covington Catholic.) Talk about a pressure packed race. During the re-run, Cusick finished 3rd to help Covington Catholic win the Class AA State Team Title.
The girl’s team race was close as well.
