In an effort to honor the top track and field performers from Kentucky, KYtrackXC.com will have a weekly set of Athletes of the Week. There will be Middle School, High School, and College awardees. FormerKentuckyHigh School Track and Field athletes currently running in college are eligible for the College award, even if he or she attends a school out-of-state.
Snapp, a freshman at DanvilleHigh School, won two events at the Lake Cumberland Classic Saturday.She won her specialty events the 1600m/3200m in 5:13.40 and 11:25.72.The five-time Kentucky State Champion is currently ranked #1 in both events in Kentucky.
Edwards, a junior at FortKnoxHigh School, won three events at the Larue County Invitational on Saturday.He leaped 45-07 to win the Triple Jump and won both hurdle events, the 110m Hurdles in 14.95 and 300m Hurdles in 40.99.His performances in the Triple Jump and 110m Hurdles currently lead the entire state.
Jarman, a 7th grader at WoodfordCountyMiddle School, won two events at the Woodford County MS All-Comers.She ran and competed in two unique distance events the 600m Run and 1000m Run.She ran a 2:02.44 in the 600m Run and a 3:31.19 in the 1000m Run.
Hammon, an eighth grader at Holy Trinity, won the 1600m Run at the Western Hills MS All-Comers on Wednesday.His time of 5:10.80 currently is the fastest 1600m time in Kentucky for the 2009 Middle School Outdoor Season.
Grieshaber, a 2006 WoodfordCounty graduate finished 3rd in the 5000m Meter Run at the Sea Ray Relays.Her time of 17:14.12 was a new career-best for the former All-State Cross Country runner.
Taitt, a 2005 Bowling Green graduate finished 2nd in the Shot Put Saturday at the Ole Miss Invitational with a Mid-East Regional qualifying throw of 56-00.He also finished 7th in the Discus with a toss of 158-00.
