Mike Duncan Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America

Bowling Green, Ky. – After being named ESPN The Magazine third-team
Academic All-America in 2007, Western Kentucky University track and
cross country athlete Mike Duncan has been been named first-team for
2008, it was announced Monday by the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Duncan, a Henderson, Ky., native and graduate of Henderson County
High, graduated from WKU in May with a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade-
point average during his four years on the Hill, majoring in physical
education (pedagogy) with a minor in journalism education.

During his career, Duncan was a member of three Sun Belt Conference
championship teams, including the 2005 cross country conference
champions and the 2008 indoor and outdoor track and field team
champions.  Duncan was a member of the distance medley relay team that
scored at each of the last two SBC indoor championships, and as a
sophomore, he scored an eighth-place finish in the mile run at the
league indoor meet.

Duncan was named WKU’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2007-
08 school year, while also earning ESPN The Magazine first-team
Academic All-District IV honors from CoSIDA each of the past two
seasons.
