The 4th Annual Rumble Through the Jungle Cross Country Invitational, hosted by North Oldham High and Middle Schools, will be held on Saturday, September 8 at the Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve in Goshen, KY. Boys and girls races will be contested in the high, middle and elementary school divisions.
With over 1,400 runners slated to compete, the "Rumble" features a wooded, trail oriented layout that is quickly becoming one of Kentucky's premier early season meets. Several top-ranked teams and individuals are slated to be in attendance.
Leading the way in the boys' division are class 3A top-ranked and Tiger Run Champions, St. Xavier. 3A fourth-ranked duPont Manual, after finishing only 8 points behind St. X at the Tiger, should again push for the team title. Also contending for team honors will be 3A seventh-ranked Shelby County, 3A eighth-ranked Butler, 1A third-ranked Christian Academy, 2A fourth-ranked Pendleton County and host, 2A fifth-ranked North Oldham.
A star-studded field of some of Kentucky’s top-ranked runners is also expected to vie for individual honors. St. X’s Jackson Carnes, Thomas Mann and Austin Miller, Shelby County's Stacey Eden and Alec Zaremba, South Oldham's Jacob Law, Manual's Perry Finley and David Hamm, Butler’s Chris Becker and Oldham County's Joe Mallek are all 3A standouts and should be in the hunt for the top spots.
On the girls’ side, 3A fourth-ranked, duPont Manual will be looking to bounce back from a fourth place finish at the Tiger and should be the class of the field. Challengers for the team title include 2A sixth-ranked Spencer County, 2A ninth-ranked North Oldham, 1A seventh-ranked Christian Academy, Shelby County and Scott County.
Top individuals include State Track Champion, Mary Grace Pellegrini, Manual teammates Brooke Hurley and Elise Medley, Oldham County’s Annie Barry, North Bullitt’s Betsy Heines, Spencer County’s Chelsea Talley, North Oldham’s Erin Overcash and South Oldham’s Jessie Murner.
