The St. Mary Invitational was held Saturday at Noble Park in Paducah, Kentucky. This is a relatively flat course minus the flood wall runners encounter twice. The day started with the Varsity Girls race in which Graves County was the heavy favorite. Chelsea Reed from Kenwood (TN) took the lead right away and held on for the victory in a time of 21:16.63. Graves County did indeed hold true as the favorite putting six in the top eleven to win with 23 points. They were led by Shara Darnell's second place finish.
The Boys Varsity race was the Battle of James. Class AAA #19 James Bowens from Marshall County beat Class A #3 James Maglasang in their only head to head race this season. The senior and freshman ran side by side for the first two miles until the senior Bowens finally pulled away to win with a 17:07.35. Maglasang finished second in 17:15.99. Maglasang did get one victory on the day, leading his team to a win at their home invitational over second place Marshall County. St. Mary put four in the top 10 to win with 61 points.
