After a disappointing state championship and national performance, as a only a junior, Dymiere Jeffrey decided it was time to show the entire nation who the best jumper is. At the AAU Club Championships she put on a show in the Heptathlon high jump by clearing 1.80m which equates to 5-10.75.
Team Virginia truly showed out this weekend and proved once again that those from the Commonwealth of Virginia are truly the kings and queens of 400s. Representing Virginia were 16 athletes in 19 entered events these past few weeks at the USATF Olympic Team Trials. Out of those 16 athletes, 25% or four of the athletes have advanced to make the Olympic team for the United States.
Against the toughest competition in the world, recent T.C. Williams alum, Noah Lyles raced his best when it mattered most. Though he finished just shy of making the US Olympic team in fourth place, he did cross the line in a wind-legal 20.09 to break Roy Martin's 31 year old 200m national record.
There are few individuals who have ever met him and wouldn't agree he is one of the best ever. He makes the short list not for his 20+ years of tenure or his 14 state championships but for how he carried himself and coached.

Over the next 11 days the eyes of the entire track & field world will be on the US Olympic Team Trials out in Eugene Oregon. Competing there will be 15 athletes from Virginia in 18 declared events. The Virginia contingent represents athletes who go all the way from the favorite to the final qualifier.
Here are the awards of the year. These awards are selected on a holistic view of the season with an emphasis on the post-season and states. An athlete may only win one award (aside from Athlete of The Year) and is chosen for the higher award. The awards rank: total athlete of the year - male/female AOY - discipline AOY - grade AOY - classification AOY.
Team VA did very well out in Clovis California against some tough junior competition that includes college frosh. Even though there was very tough competition, Team VA qualified 10 individuals who tallied up 32 performances and two wins.
These rankings were calculated by scoring the rankings as a meet. We scored 16 deep for individuals and 16 deep for relays. For example, for individuals 1st place received 16 points for their team, on down to 1 point for 16th place.

It started with a nice homecoming at Todd Stadium as Team War jumped back into 5A from 4A. Being at home definitely seemed to help as she stepped up big time and took home the 5A 400m title in 54.27. That time dropped 1.51 seconds off of her previous season's best. It was a huge win and improvement.
After the completion of last year's season we began on a journey to complete this list. We are now over 77% complete with the list with only 25 records missing and of those, only eight are non-freshman records and one is a junior record meaning the majority of the missing performances are from freshman.

GREENSBORO, Nc. - The queen of VA sprints definitely earned her title this year by becoming likely the first ever girl to complete the double triple sweep at states. She won every single sprint even this year and even was all-state in the high jump. She is an athlete that always doubles and sacrifices a lot for her teammates, which are all returning it should be noted. This weekend had a difference though.
