Athlete Interviews Leading up to LIVE 2018 Eastern Relays

You've had a pretty exciting (senior) year so far. Tell us about some of the biggest highlights to you personally?

I've had a few great moments in my last four years.  I've had a lot of teammates do great things that have helped motivate me, and I've been blessed to have a good supporting base and great coaches and teammates to support me.  For some of my most memorable moments, my freshman year I broke our freshman school record, and I ran out the ring towards my dad, who was video taping me and almost tackled him in my excitement.  My second most memorable moment was my sophomore year at the Regional where I came in seeded third but,I came up short and didn't even make finals.  This was a big moment because this is where I really fell in love with track and field and regained my work ethic and competitive nature.  So far during my senior year, I haven't had a perfect meet quite yet but I've been close.  I've been able to compete with some great athletes around our state and showed myself that I am on the same level.

Everyone in this part of the country has experienced a pretty nasty spring so far. How has it impacted your training and racing? Any cancelled meets or particularly memorable workouts?

When it comes to the ability to train and get better, the weather has not been on our side all season.  We still have not had three days of practice in a row where we can throw in decent weather in practice.  Almost every outdoor meet we've had was either really cold,,rainy, or canceled.  But it's part of track and field so we push through and get better.

Tell us what races you'll be running at Eastern Relays? Do you have any specific goals that you'd like to share?

My goals at the Eastern Relays are to go out and compete at a high level and have fun and help our team.  I am also excited to go against some of the nationally ranked guys, and of course make new friends along the way.
