Athlete Interviews Leading up to LIVE 2018 Eastern Relays

You've had an exciting junior year so far. Tell us about some of the biggest highlights to you personally?

Our team recently won the Evansville City championship after being runner-up the past two years.  It was even more special because we have been training and running in memory of our long-time coach, Dylan Barnes, who passed away very suddenly during track season last year.  A personal highlight for me was going to the New Balance Nationals Indoor and running on the historic Armory track.

Everyone in this part of the country has experienced a pretty nasty spring so far. How has it impacted your training and racing? Any cancelled meets or particularly memorable workouts?

For the first time that I can ever remember, we had a meet cancelled due to snow.  A memorable and horrible workout was the day we were supposed to do a long run.  It started snowing so hard outside we couldn't even open our eyes and we had to do a 65-minute run on a treadmill.

Claire covered 800m in 2:27.03 at the UK High School Invitational in 2018.

Tell us what races you'll be running at Eastern Relays? Do you have any specific goals that you'd like to share?

I will be running the 800M run and 4x400M relay at Eastern.  Goal = RUN FAST!

Tell us what you love the most about the Eastern Relays!

This will be my third trip to Eastern Relays.  It has rained hard the past two years during my races, so I'm hoping for better weather this year!  The competition at Eastern Relays is always top notch.  I appreciate the opportunity to run with such an elite crowd.
