Athlete Interviews Leading up to LIVE 2018 Eastern Relays

You've had a pretty exciting senior year so far. Tell us about some of the biggest highlights to you personally?

Senior year has been a very exciting and fulfilling year. My biggest highlight so far has to be when I ran under 5 minutes in the mile for the first time. It was an honor to do this against some of the nation's best at the UK Indoor High School Invitational.

Watch that race HERE:

Everyone in this part of the country has experienced a pretty nasty spring so far. How has it impacted your training and racing? Any cancelled meets or particularly memorable workouts?

The unpredictable weather has definitely presented a challenge for our team this season, but we have used it as an opportunity to grow stronger together. We have had around 6 meets cancelled this season. It has been a bit of a let down, since we were looking forward to these meets, but we always put in the work regardless of the conditions.

Tell us what races you'll be running at Eastern Relays? Do you have any specific goals that you'd like to share?

I will be running the mile and 800m this weekend. I really just want to compete and perform to the best of my ability, with hopes of running my fastest times ever. Most importantly, I want to have fun and enjoy the experience, as this will be my last time competing at Eastern Relays.

Tell us what you love the most about the Eastern Relays!

I have been to Eastern Relays before, and what I love most about it is the competitive atmosphere. Every year, this meet brings great competition from all around and introduces many opportunities for athletes.
