The 2015 MileStat Outdoor T&F Awards

Boys' Event Specific Awards

Boy Sprinter of The Year

Noah Lyles (T.C. Williams - Junior)

When you break both the 100 and 200 state records by a huge margin, win both the 100 and 200 state titles and the national titles as well then you get awarded this award. Noah Lyles simply put on a clinic this season for how to sprint.

Boy Hurdler of The Year

Grant Holloway (Grassfield - Junior)

Grant finished the season now in the top 6 all-time in both the 110 and 300 hurdles. That makes him the only male or female hurdler in the history of our state to be ranked that high on both lists. Though he was arguably outshined in the 110h this season by one of the greatest ever, Charles Graham, he stepped up when it mattered most and won the 6A State titles in both and ran phenomenal times in both as well.

Boy Distance Runner of The Year

Andrew Hunter (Loudoun Valley - Junior)

After a long season searching for it, Drew finally was able to break the 3200m state record and he not only broke it but shattering it by two seconds running a converted 8:39. This also stands as one of the fastest times ever for a high schooler and could only be the tip of the iceberg. He also finishes the season with a converted 4:00 1600m time which is good enough for #3 all-time in the state.

Boy Jumper of The Year

Grant Holloway (Grassfield - Junior)

Grant finished the season off with a huge exclamation point by winning both the 6A high jump and long jump. In the long jump though he put on the greatest show of all by improving his pr by two feet on one of his final attempts to jump #2 all-time 25-8.75. That along with his high jump crown wins him this award.

Boy Vaulter of The Year

Andrew Arlint (Battlefield - Senior)

This may have been the closest award this year. Both of the top two finishers for this award were undefeated all season in state. Though they never faced, Andrew competed much more and also won states with a higher clearance.

Boy Thrower of The Year

Grant Voeks (The Potomac School - Senior)

Grant finished the season ranked 3rd in the shot put and 2nd in the discus. Those places were higher then any other thrower this season. Grant was also the VISAA State Champion in both throws and was one of the only male throwers to win both state titles this season.

Boys Relay of The Year

T.C. Williams 4x400

3:12.17 without blocks and with roughly 20 teams around them is just crazy. This time, which ranks third all-time in Virginia, is one for the record books. The Titans with both Lyles brothers on it is one scary relay. Both brothers split in the 45s and will likely split in the 44s if not 43s next year when they try to be one of the first teams ever to dethrone the Jamaicans.
